Rosiglitazone/glimepiride

Glimepiride is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (diabetes mellitus)

Glimepiride works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas. Insulin helps to control the levels of Glucose (Sugar) in your blood. Insufficient or ineffective insulin causes type 2 diabetes. Glimepiride works when diet and exercise alone fail to control abnormally high levels of blood sugar.

Rosiglitazone operates by reducing the amount of glucagon and increases the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas to control the blood sugar levels in the body. Glucagon causes the liver to produce more sugar, so by Rosiglitazone reducing the amount of glucagon in the body, this also helps to reduce the levels of glucose in the blood which then helps in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.
