Introduction
Diclofenac Sodium is an anti-inflammatory drug often used to help reduce pain and inflammation in the body. This medication can be used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain, especially in cases of osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. It is a Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drug (NSAID), which works very well to reduce pain and inflammation that range from mild to moderate. Symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis can also be managed.
Use
This medication is used to help reduce the swelling and stiffness of joints caused by arthritis. It is helpful in treating severe arthritis. This medication can also be used in the treatment of dental pain, muscle aches, pain after surgery etc. It is often used to relieve pain and inflammation in the body.
Dosage and administration
This medicine is available in the form of tablets that are to be taken orally with a glass of water. It may cause stomach upsets hence it is advised to take it with milk or antacid. Do not lie down immediately after taking this medication. Take the tablet as a whole and do not crush, chew, or break the tablet. This medicine can be taken for 2 weeks in cases of arthritis. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. In case you miss a dose, do not take 2 doses at one time. Just skip the missed dose, take the next scheduled dose, and resume as usual. Your doctor would advise you on the proper use of this medicine.
Warning
Inform the doctor if have any existing or past allergies to any substances as the medication may have such substances in its composition. In case you experience any allergies or discomfort while using this medication, stop using this medication and consult the doctor immediately.
Inform the physician if you suffer or have suffered from asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, or ulcers before being prescribed this medication.
Avoid consuming alcohol and tobacco while on this medication as they may cause stomach bleeding.
This medication can make your skin sensitive to sunlight thus avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and extreme warm conditions. Apply sunscreen when you are going out and wear proper clothing to avoid extended exposure to the sun.
