Diamicron/ Diamicron MR, Gliclazide

Gliclazide is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus which is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM).

Gliclazide　works by increasing the amount of insulin released by the pancreas. Insulin helps to control the levels of Glucose (Sugar) in your blood. Insufficient or inaffective insulin causes type 2 diabetes. Gliclazide　works when diet and exercise alone fail to control abnormally high levels of blood sugar.Gliclazide is only effective when used to treat type-2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent)

Patients who take Gliclazide may suffer from such side effects;

Hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar level),
Nausea,
Headache,
Dizziness
Itching,
Skin rash or other skin conditions
Bruising or bleeding
Fever,
Chills or weakness
