Pyridostigmine Bromide

Pyridostigmine is used in the treatment of myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, post-operative urinary retention and reversal of effect of skeletal muscle relaxant after surgery. Pyridostigmine also improves communication between nerve impulses and muscle movement

Pyridostigmine affects chemicals in the body that are involved in the communication between nerve impulses and muscle movement. Pyridostigmine works by slowing the breakdown of acetylcholine when it is released from nerve endings. Which means that there is more acetylcholine available to attach to the muscle receptors, and this improves the strength of the muscles in the body.

Some of the potential side effects of Pyridostigmine can include the symptoms below;

Nausea,
Abdominal cramp,
Excessive salivation,
Vomiting,
Diarrhoea.
