Important Consideration before Using Generic Levitra

Things you need to mind before taking vardenafil

Generic levitra is a prescribed oral drug for the improvement of sexual life in male patients with impotence. The active ingredient of this drug is vardenafil HCl. It relaxes blood vessels in the penis. It results in the inflow of blood needed for an erection.

Even if this drug is prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction in men, it is not meant for all men although having the same problem. There are several aspects that a man needs to consider before making use of it. The following are some points:

Levitra may be unsafe to use in elderly people owing to the reason that they have great potential to develop adverse reactions. It is warned to start on a low dose, 25 mg, of vardenafil in people of 60 years of age and older who want to use this medicine for erectile dysfunction. Patients who want to use this medicine for pulmonary arterial hypertension may also need a lower dose starting. Your doctor can only say whether a high dose is essential for you.

A patient can’t be worthy to use this drug if he has serious medical problems, including severe liver problems, leukemia; multiple myeloma (tumors of the bone marrow); or polycythemia, sickle cell disease, thrombocythemia (blood problems), deformed penis, or history of priapism. In addition, this drug should also be avoided in diabetes, low blood pressure, kidney problems (severe), high blood pressure, bleeding problems, coronary artery disease, hyperlipidemia (excess of lipids in the blood), hypertension (high blood pressure), low cup to disc ratio (“crowded disc”), arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat), coronary artery disease, heart or blood disease, history of (within the last 6 months).

Uses of Generic(Vardenafil)

Generic Levitra should be avoided in patients having any odd allergic reaction to its component. Also tell your health care provider if you are allergic to any other substances, foe e.g. foods, preservatives, or dyes.

The most important thing to know is that this drug is not meant for use in women. So no question arises whether to use it in pregnancy or not.

Generic Levitra can be unsafe if used with certain drugs. If the patient needs to take two different medicines, he should tell the doctor. Accordingly, your doctor may change the dose, or recommend other precautions necessary for you. Before using this drug you should tell your health care professional if you are using other impotence drugs, cimetidine (e.g., tagamet), mibefradil (e.g., posicor), ritonavir (e.g., norvir), erythromycin (e.g., e.e.s. or ery-tab), itraconazole (e.g., sporanox), and ketoconazole (e.g., nizoral). This drug also must be avoided if you are taking bosentan (e.g., Tracleer), alpha-blockers (medicine for high blood pressure), and nitrates such as nitroglycerin (e.g., nitrostat or transderm-nitro). Saquinavir drugs (e.g., Fortovase or Invirase) also need to be avoided as these medicines may enhance the unwanted reactions of vardenafil unless lower starting dose of vardenafil is used.

Generic Levitra doesn’t treat erectile dysfunction in women. It is not recognized if vardenafil excretes in breast milk. Women who take this drug for pulmonary arterial hypertension and want to breastfeed should ask their doctor before breastfeeding. The doctor may recommend stopping breastfeeding or the drug.
