Crestor (Rosuvastatin)

However, each tablet contains inactive ingredients such as microcrystalline cellulose NF, lactose monohydrate NF, tribasic calcium phosphate NF, crospovidone NF, magnesium stearate NF, hypromellose NF, triacetin NF, titanium dioxide USP, yellow ferric oxide, and red ferric oxide NF.

INDICATIONS AND USAGE

 

As a supplement to diet, Crestor (Rosuvastatin) is indicated to decrease Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, increase High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and is accepted worldwide to slow the development of atherosclerosis in adult patients as a part of the treatment plan to bring the cholesterol level down to goal. However, Crestor is not indicated to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Always consult your doctor regarding the indications of this medication. Self-medication is not recommended.

As far as usage, dosage and administration of Crestor (Rosuvastatin) are concerned, the range of dose for Crestor is between 5 and 40mg orally once a day. It is usually administered as a single dose at any time of day, with or without food. Swallow every tablet in entirety with a glass of water. Though Crestor is available in several strengths, the recommended starting dose is 10mg once daily. However, a starting dose of 20mg may be considered for those patients with distinct hyperlipidemia and aggressive lipid targets. The 40mg dose of Crestor should be administered only for patients who have not achieved their target using the 20mg dose. Asian patients should start Crestor therapy with 5mg once a day.

It is always advisable to do regular check-ups of lipid levels within 2 to 4 weeks after continuous use of Crestor (Rosuvastatin). In this way, your dosage can be adjusted accordingly.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

 

There are certain instances when patients are advised not to take Crestor (Rosuvastatin). Patients who are allergic to Crestor or having known hypersensitivity to any ingredient of this medication should refrain from using this drug. Another contraindication relates to people with active liver disease that may contain undetermined continual elevations of hepatic transaminase levels. Women who are pregnant or going to become pregnant should not take Rosuvastatin tablets. The same thing is applied for breastfeeding mothers too.

STORAGE

 

Crestor (Rosuvastatin) must be stored in a safe place away from high temperature, dampness and light. Keep Crestor away from children and pets.
