Deferasirox is used in the treatment of Iron overload caused by blood transfusions and Transfusion dependent Thalassemia.

Deferasirox works by trapping and removing excess iron in the body which is then excreted mainly in the stools. This action by Deferasirox reduces the risk of organ damage.
