Uses

Dapagliflozin is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes which helps to control the amount of sugar in the blood.

How it Works

Dapagliflozin is known as a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. Dapagliflozin reduces the levels of sugar the body absorbs and increases the levels of sugar that leaves the body in the urine, however Dapagliflozin should be used together with regular exercise and the control of diet.

Common Side effects

Patients who take Dapagliflozin may suffer from such side effects;

Nausea,
Frequent urge to urinate,
Increased thirst,
Urinary tract infection,
Symptoms of hypoglycaemia: feeling shaky or anxious,
Sweating,
Looking pale,
Feeling hungry,
Feeling that your heart is pounding (palpitations),
Feeling dizzy
Hypoglycaemia (Low blood sugar level) in combination with insulin or sulphonylurea,
Genital fungal infection

Saxagliptin works in the treatment of type 2 diabetes by by increasing the amount of insulin produced by the pancreas, Saxagliptin also reduces the amount glucagon produced by the pancreas, Glucagon causes the liver to produce more sugar, so by reducing the amount of glucagon in the body, Saxagliptin helps to reduce the levels of glucose in your blood which in turn helps in the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Runny nose,
Hives,
Upper respiratory tract infection,
