Quinine
Uses
Cinkona is used in the treatment of Malaria.
How it Works
Cinkona is administered either as monotherapy or with other medications in the treatment of malaria infections,. Cinkona works by attacking and eliminating the malarial parasites in the red blood cells, Cinkona causes accumulation of toxic heme pigment, which kills the malarial infection. Cinkona is widely considered to be effective in areas where chloroquine resistance has been known to occur. Cinkona can only be used to treat a malaria infection once it has occurred, and it is not safe or effective for preventing malaria.
